Larson Applauds Announcement of Ceasefire Agreement Between Israel and Iran

Larson (CT-01) applauded the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran. “Responsible leadership requires de-escalation, not inflaming tensions that could lead to a prolonged conflict,” said Larson. “I am glad to see President Trump and his team work with our partners in the Middle East to forge a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Our support for the people of Israel and their security is unwavering, and Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. Congress is a co-equal branch of government and needs to be part of this process. Any authorization of military force, as both Presidents Bush sought in Iraq, must come before us for a vote. That is why I support Rep. Jim Himes’ resolution preventing forces from striking Iran without Congressional approval.
