Webster Returns Nearly $6 Million to Taxpayers

Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, once again voluntarily rolled back his congressional salary to the 2008 level, continuing a practice he has continued every year since taking office. “Washington needs leaders who lead by example,” said Rep. Webster . “As I continue working to rein in wasteful spending and restore fiscal discipline, I begin with my own salary and office budget. Every year, I voluntarily reduce my congressional pay, and find ways to reduce spending in my congressional office.  I invite all my colleagues to join me in setting an example.” To date, by cutting his salary and congressional office budget, Rep. Webster has saved over $5.7 million taxpayer dollars. These voluntary savings include the taxpayer-funded budget Members are given to run their congressional offices in Washington and their district. ###
