Correa Votes NO on GOP Effort to LOCK in Conservative Supreme Court

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46), member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement following his ‘no’ vote on the GOP constitutional amendment to permanently keep the Supreme Court at nine members, solidifying the bench’s conservative majority. “The Constitution gives Congress the power of impeachment, oversight, and the purse. Under Trump, Congressional Republicans have surrendered that power again and again to serve the president instead of the people. This amendment is just the latest example of that. “Congress has repeatedly expanded and shrunk the size of the Supreme Court. There’s no reason to lock in nine justices now except that it works in Republicans’ favor. I’ve never supported packing the Court for political advantage, and I don’t support this further surrender of congressional power.” Print Email Share Tweet
