September 02, 2026 Rep. Sara Jacobs Brings Home $825,000 for East County STEM and Entrepreneurship Non-Profit Rep. Sara Jacobs (CA-51) announced that the National Institute of Standards and Technology will disperse $825,855 in federal funding to Greater Than Tech this week, as part of the FY26 Community Project Funding she secured. Located in East County, Greater Than Tech trains young people, especially girls and people of color, to pursue careers in STEM and entrepreneurship by offering hands-on training and workforce development. “Our young people are facing a unique, constantly evolving job market,” said Rep. Sara Jacobs. “Tech jobs are dominating the market and many students, especially those in low-income neighborhoods, aren’t offered the tools to succeed in these areas. I’m grateful for local leaders like Greater Than Tech who are encouraging young girls and people of color to pursue careers in STEM fields or start their own small business and giving them opportunities to do so.
