Senator Welch to Join Bipartisan Senate Delegation to Canada
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) will join Senator s Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee , and a bipartisan delegation, including Tim Kaine (D-Va.) , Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) , and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) in Ottawa, Canada for meetings with Prime Minister Mark Carney, Foreign Minister Anita Anand, Minister of National Defense David McGuinty, Minister of Industry Mélanie Joly, the Business Council of Canada, and other leading Canadian companies and business groups. During the trip, the Senators will underscore the deep and bipartisan support for a strong U.S.-Canada partnership among Congress and the American people. The Senators will reiterate the importance of the bilateral trading relationship, including through deeply integrated supply chains in key sectors like the automative and defense industries that benefit both sides economically and lower costs for consumers.
