Congressman Don Davis’ Statement on Government Funding Vote
September 19, 2025 Press Release Washington, D.C. — Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) released the following statement after voting “no” on H.R. 5371, Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026, a stopgap government funding measure that passed the U.S. House of Representatives despite bipartisan opposition. The legislation would only extend existing funding levels for federal agencies through November 21, 2025, without extending the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits set to expire by the end of the year. “After traveling across eastern North Carolina, many constituents have shared their concerns about healthcare. Too many hard-working families are struggling to make ends meet, and nearly 70,000 residents in our district depend on the ACA premium tax credits. Whether it's healthcare, trade, or infrastructure, families are hurting. Instead of kicking the can down the road, it is time for Congress to show up and do its job for the American people. We must not leave rural America behind.” ###
