Image September 19, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C . – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to advance a clean, short-term funding bill to keep the government open as Congress finishes the appropriations process. H.R. 5371 , the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026 , which passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 217-212, funds the federal government for seven weeks while giving the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate time to finish the remaining appropriations bills. Rep. Mann released the following statement after the vote. “The harsh reality is our national debt is unsustainable,” said Rep. Mann . “For years, elected officials have come to Washington, D.C. ringing the alarm on our national debt. I applaud President Trump’s bold leadership in being the first president to go line by line through the federal budget and evaluate how our tax dollars are being spent. Now, Congress has to do its part to get our spending under control by returning to regular order and passing individual appropriations bills. Unfortunately, the consensus among too many in Washington is that they’d rather see President Trump fail than work together to keep the government functioning and funded responsibly. It’s unfortunate that some prefer to grandstand and try to score political points rather than to do what’s best for the country. It is time to stop the political theatre and work together to get our fiscal house in order.” The Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2026 will now go to the U.S. Senate for further consideration. ### Issues : Economy
