Cortez Masto, Rosen Deliver Over $600,000 They Secured to Improve Water Infrastructure in Carlin

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) delivered $602,000 in community projects funding they secured from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to replace significant portions of the water main in Carlin, Nevada. This updated water main will help the town reduce water loss, ensure the security of their drinking water system, and comply with code requirements. “In Nevada, we know that water is precious,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “When a city or town’s water infrastructure is out of date or in need of repairs, it can jeopardize access to clean, safe drinking water for an entire community. I applaud the City of Carlin for working to update its water main, and I am proud to have secured federal funding to help the town complete this project.” “Every Nevadan deserves to have access to clean water,” said Senator Rosen. “At a time when droughts and water shortages are becoming more common, I am proud to have secured funding for this critical project in the City of Carlin and thrilled to see the funds delivered. I will continue to work across party lines in the Senate to ensure that all Nevadans have access to clean water.” Specifically, the project for which this funding was secured will replace 3,500 line feet of the transmission main between the primary spring water source and the booster pump station located on Hamilton Street in Carlin. Senators Cortez Masto and Rosen are champions of Nevada’s rural communities and have consistently worked to update the Silver State’s water infrastructure. They have secured millions in funding for Nevada’s rural airports and for government services like law enforcement and public education in rural counties. Cortez Masto and Rosen have fought to protect the livelihoods of Nevada’s ranchers. They have secured millions to ensure access to clean drinking water throughout Nevada and fought to protect Southern Nevada’s groundbreaking water conservation projects. ###
