Hoeven: Administration to Pay TSA, Senate Provides Funding for DHS in Multi-Step Process
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven issued the following statement after President Trump announced the administration will pay the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) by reprogramming funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill (OB3). While Senate Democrats continue to block funding for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Senate Republicans are funding the remainder of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a multi-step process, including:
“Importantly, the President is getting our hard-working TSA agents paid utilizing funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill. When we passed OB3, we included strong funding for DHS to ensure they can complete their missions, and we can utilize these funds for CBP and ICE. At the same time, the Senate approved funding to reopen the Coast Guard, FEMA and other DHS agencies, and we plan to follow up and do more for DHS through reconciliation. It’s unfortunate that Democrats shut down DHS for more than a month and continued to move the goalposts during negotiations, but this multi-step process will ensure that DHS is funded and can complete their missions. We appreciate the hardworking TSA agents, Coast Guard members and others who have continued to keep our nation safe.”
