Downing Introduces NO HUD Funding for Sanctuary Cities ACT

September 2, 2026 Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WASHINGTON, D.C . – Today, Congressman Troy Downing (MT-02) introduced HR 10222, the No HUD Funding for Sanctuary Cities Act , legislation that would make sanctuary jurisdictions ineligible for grant funding administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Under current law, jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement can still receive HUD grant funding. The No HUD Funding for Sanctuary Cities Act would end that practice and ensure federal housing dollars are not directed to sanctuary jurisdictions. “If a sanctuary city is not complying with federal law, we should not allocate American taxpayers’ hard-earned money to those areas,” said Congressman Downing . “The American taxpayer should not be responsible for funding cities that choose to disregard federal immigration policy while law-abiding citizens are left to bear the cost.” Read the full bill text HERE .
