Bennet Statement on Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Plan to Take Control of Gaza

Denver— Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to take control of Gaza:
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s dangerous plan to intensify military operations in Gaza, including by taking control of Gaza City, risks catastrophic consequences.
“Doing so will worsen the already unconscionable suffering of nearly two million Palestinians trapped and starving in Gaza – and make less likely the safe return of the hostages Hamas continues to hold in appalling conditions.
“Netanyahu has repeatedly put his personal political interests over Israeli and U.S. national security interests. And President Trump has failed to check him. This time is no different.
“When President Trump entered office, there was a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in place, with Hamas releasing hostages and aid flowing to Palestinians in need. He owes the American people answers on what his plan is to end the war.”
