WATCH: Senator Kim Demands Congress Act Now to Stand Up to Trump’s Lawlessness
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Tonight on MSNOW, Senator Kim made clear that Congress must stand up to Donald Trump’s lawlessness in the wake of federal agents killing Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
“All of us are united in outrage over the point blank killing of an American citizen…We really can’t understate just how shocking of a moment this is, which is exactly why Congress needs to act. I’m just seeing time and time again where the Republicans just fail to stand up. I’ve often said it’s like we don’t have three functioning branches of government anymore…
“Unfortunately, we just continue to see Republican leadership continue to just bow down and do whatever Trump wants them to do. This needs to be a point where we say enough.”

Senator Kim emphasized that he will vote “no” on the funding package on the table in the Senate, including for the Department of Homeland Security, and demanded public debate on any additional funding:
“Immediately what we can do is say we are not going to vote on this as a package. We should pull out the DHS part of the appropriations and have an independent vote on this and be able to have a public discussion about this.”
He called out the administration’s extortion of the American people to fund their continued lawlessness:
“Basically a full on cover up that this administration is doing about the killing of Alex Pretti…the people are demanding an independent investigation. Demanding that ICE, CBP, and DHS agents get out of Minnesota. Not only did they fund this through the reconciliation bill, but to remind the American people thatthis came out of your wallet. This came out of your healthcare. This was a direct transfer of funds from the Affordable Care Act and people’s healthcare to funding this lawlessness and killing American citizens.”
