Senator Rick Scott Highlights Sunshine Protection Act to Officially “Lock The Clock” in Senate Commerce Committee
April 10, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C.
– Today, Senator Rick Scott introduced his bipartisan, bicameral
Sunshine Protection Act
during a U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing,
If I Could Turn Back Time: Should We Lock the Clock?
,
and highlighted the benefits of his bill to “Lock The Clock” and end the twice-yearly time change by making Daylight Saving Time permanent year-round. As Governor of Florida, Senator Scott signed legislation that would allow the state to opt out of the constant time change and remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round, pending federal approval, and has pushed the
Sunshine Protection Act
to bring this effort nationwide as United States Senator.
