H. Con. Res. 93 , introduced by Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) and eight other veteran members of Congress, would direct the President to remove U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities against Iran unless Congress has declared war or specifically authorized the use of military force. “The President launched his war in Iran 199 days ago — a war that has cost us the lives of 18 servicemembers and jacked up costs for families all over the country,” said Congresswoman Goodlander . “Enough is enough. This war has to end. I will never stop working to protect our servicemembers and defend the Constitution we all swore to uphold.” ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND: Congresswoman Goodlander has helped lead the fight to reassert Congress’s constitutional war powers authority, leading to two previous bipartisan Iran War Powers Resolutions passing the House. In June, Goodlander helped lead H. Con. Res. 86 to passage by a 215-208 vote. The Senate subsequently passed the resolution, marking the first time in the history of the War Powers Resolution that both chambers of Congress directed a President to remove U.S. forces from a conflict through a concurrent resolution. In July, Goodlander cosponsored H. Con. Res. 89 , which passed 214-208. Demanded accountability for the war’s costs and consequences. Goodlander pressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for an accounting of the war’s cost, demanded a public House Armed Services Committee hearing , and joined fellow Democratic veterans in seeking an investigation into force-protection failures after six U.S. servicemembers were killed in Kuwait. Fought to cut off funding for an unauthorized war. Goodlander joined fellow veterans and national security leaders to introduce the No Funds for Iran War Act , which would prohibit taxpayer funds from supporting military action against Iran without a declaration of war or specific congressional authorization. ### OFFICE LOCATIONS CONCORD DISTRICT OFFICE 18 North Main Street 4th Floor Concord, NH 03301 Phone: (603) 226-1002 Get Directions NASHUA DISTRICT OFFICE 184 Main Street Suite 222 Nashua, NH 03060 Phone: (603) 226-1002 To schedule an appointment, click here.
