Resources / Newsletter Share on Newsletter: Good News Across Texas Oct 13, 2026 Newsletter Good News Across Texas President Trump recently visited San Antonio to highlight the progress we have made across the Lone Star State, and I was honored to join him on Air Force One for the flight back to Washington. The results are showing up in Texas homes and businesses with poverty at record lows, low unemployment rates, and a growing economy. Additionally, Texas workers and families no longer pay federal income tax on qualifying overtime, and about 4 million seniors benefit from the new senior deductions. Texas also continues to see new investment and jobs coming to communities across the state. Major projects in manufacturing, energy, and shipbuilding have started, including Toyota’s $3.6 billion expansion, a new shipyard, and the first new oil refinery in nearly 50 years. Texas is also receiving $7.5 billion in federal reimbursements to offset the costs of securing our southern border through Operation Lone Star. We are grateful to President Trump for these major milestones. America First means Texas First: lower taxes, a sealed border, safer communities, and jobs that stay in the United States where they belong. Bastrop District Office Opening The new Bastrop office is now open! Alongside our existing district offices in Victoria and Corpus Christi, the Bastrop location brings direct federal agency assistance closer to families, veterans, seniors, and small businesses in the northern part of Texas’s 27th Congressional District. My team is excited to work more closely alongside the communities we serve. This new location will assist constituents in navigating federal agencies, such as the Social Security Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the State Department. We also handle inquiries for flag requests, grant assistance, U.S. Service Academy nominations, congressional recommendations, internships, and the annual Congressional Art Competition. Our team is committed to providing accessible assistance and cutting through red tape to get you the representation you deserve. Office Details: Address: 1025 Main St, Suite 127, Bastrop, TX, 78602 Hours: Monday – Friday: 9am to 5pm (appointment only) Phone: (512) 308-4316 Constituents needing assistance with a federal agency are encouraged to call ahead or submit an inquiry request online. District Events Thank you to the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce for inviting me to their October Luncheon. This was a great opportunity to share with local community members what we’re working on in Washington, D.C., and to hear from all the folks we serve. Bastrop was the first community in our district to vote down Flock cameras. This decision aligns exactly with what we have been pushing for in Congress to protect privacy and civil liberties. We’re working to stop central bank digital currencies, FISA violations, Senate filibusters, and protect election security. Whether in Bastrop or in Washington, our goal stays the same: keeping government accountable to the people it serves. Our team is here to be a bridge between our neighbors and the federal government. Speaking to the Port Lavaca Rotary Club was also a good chance to discuss the needs of communities in Calhoun County. Energy, defense, and manufacturing are key industries for the Gulf Coast, bringing in substantial investment and creating good-paying jobs right here at home. I remain committed to ensuring this momentum continues. X-energy and Dow’s collaborative effort to deploy an advanced nuclear facility in Seadrift shows the kind of innovation that is possible when DC embraces policy that encourages investment and US energy dominance.
