Senator Ricketts Applauds Implementation of His Streamlining Rural Housing Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) applauds the implementation of his Streamlining Rural Housing Act. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently agreed to a memorandum of understanding to reevaluate environmental standards and streamline the review process for rural housing projects. This agreement fulfills the requirements outlined in Senator Ricketts’ Streamlining Rural Housing Act, which became law as part of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act in July 2026. “Across Nebraska, rural housing is in high demand,” said Ricketts. “As Governor, I led efforts to address housing availability in our communities. My Streamlining Rural Housing Act, which is now federal law, is a proven Nebraskan solution. “The HUD and USDA agreement delivers on my promise to Nebraskans. We are cutting red tape, increasing efficiency, and meeting demand to make homeownership easier for people in Nebraska and across the nation.” Read the memorandum of understanding here .
