Senator Collins Attends Maine Veterans’ Homes 35th Anniversary Open House

Caribou, ME –U.S. Senator Susan Collins attended the Caribou Maine Veterans’ Home’s (MVH) 35thanniversary open house yesterday and celebrated alongside residents and their families, staff, community partners, and board members.
“The incredible staff at MVH Caribou provide dedicated and skilled care for the heroes who have sacrificed to defend our freedom. It was a pleasure to join the MVH community as this wonderful organization marks 35 years of caring for Maine veterans in Aroostook County,”said Senator Collins.“As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to ensure Maine’s veterans have access to the benefits and resources they have earned through their service.”
Senator Collins secured $6.6 million through Fiscal Year2023and2024appropriations legislation for MVH facilities and hasadvancedmore than $3.6 million in legislation that is currently pending in the Senate.
Through her role on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Collins has secured more than $1 billion in Congressionally Directed Spending for534 local projectsacross Maine in the last five years, including investments that support law enforcement and first responders, improve access to health care, strengthen rural infrastructure, and support childcare and workforce development.
