Neal Mourns the Passing of Chairman Charlie Rangel

Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement mourning the passing of former Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY): “Today, the nation lost one of the greats. Chairman Charlie Rangel was a historic and iconic leader whose impact on American policy and politics was enduring and profound. After his groundbreaking ascent to lead the Ways and Means Committee, Charlie remained a legislative titan while redefining what was possible. His leadership paved the way for the Affordable Care Act, expanding health coverage for millions and transforming our nation’s health care system. On this Memorial Day, we honor his decorated service during the Korean War and his lifelong fight for justice and equity. Charlie was not only a great chairman but an even better man.
