Congressman Pat Harrigan Votes to Protect Law Enforcement Officers

May 15, 2025 Press Release Contact: Lexi Kranich (814) 380-4408 WASHINGTON, D.C. —Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H.R. 2240 , the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act, a bill that directs the Attorney General to report on violent attacks against law enforcement officers and recommend strategies for preventing such incidents. “Our officers deal with more threats and violence than ever before. They’re out there everyday protecting us, and it’s time we step up and do more to protect them. This legislation is about making sure they have the resources, training, and data they need to stay safe and get home to their families,” said Congressman Harrigan. The bill requires the Attorney General to collect and analyze data on violent attacks, ambushes, and other targeted assaults on law enforcement officers. It also directs a comprehensive review of the effectiveness of current training programs and protective gear, and identifies gaps in resources for officer safety. Congressman Harrigan remains committed to standing up for law enforcement and ensuring they have the resources, training, and support necessary to stay safe on the job.
