McBath Encourages Georgians to Prepare for Severe Weather
Atlanta, GA — With the arrival of severe weather threats during the summer months, Rep. Lucy McBath is encouraging residents in Georgia to be prepared. Alongside meteorologist Jim Cantore, McBath recorded her sixth annual public service announcement advising Georgians to plan, prepare, and practice for severe storms and weather. This year’s announcement featuring McBath and Cantore will air on The Weather Channel this summer. View the PSA by clicking here or on the image below: “In recent years, Georgia has experienced the devastating impact of unexpected severe weather,” McBath said. “I am proud to once again team up with Jim Cantore and The Weather Channel to help keep weather emergency preparedness at the top of mind for families in my district and across Georgia. I want to thank Jim, The Weather Channel, and all meteorologists in local news stations and in our government who work to keep communities prepared, informed, and safe.” Despite a below‑average season outlook, experts at NOAA and the National Hurricane Center stress the importance of remaining prepared for a weather emergency. These are the steps all residents are encouraged to take: First, create an emergency plan. Second, practice that plan with family and friends. Finally, stay vigilant and pay attention to weather alerts.
