Tuberville, Blackburn Introduce Bill to Ban Gender Transition Surgeries on Minors

Newsroom|Press Releases
WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) joined U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) in co-sponsoring theChloe Cole Act, which would ban the chemical and surgical mutilation of children and provide detransitioners whose healthy body parts have been damaged by these procedures with legal recourse. As the Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Subcommittee on Education and the American Family, Sen. Tuberville is committed to combatting the woke ideology that has sadly infiltrated the minds of much of America’s youth.
The legislation is named after Chloe Cole, who underwent a double mastectomy at 15 years old after being influenced by social media and leftist ideology. Chloe went on to detransition, and she has dedicated her life to protecting children from harmful sex-change procedures.
“Thousands of America’s children have fallen prey to the radical left’s woke gender ideology. Allowing our young children whose brains aren’t even fully developed to make life-altering decisions isn’t only dangerous, but it’s pure insanity,”said Sen. Tuberville.“American families have been lied to for far too long—these surgeries cause irreversible harm. This sick attack on our children ends now with President Trump and his team. I’m proud to join Sen. Blackburn in cosponsoring this legislation to stop the abuse of America’s children and enforce the President’s pro-family agenda.”
“No child should be pushed into irreversible chemical and surgical mutilation under the guise of so-called ‘gender-affirming care,’”said Sen. Blackburn.“The Chloe Cole Act would put a stop to this barbaric abuse of children and give those who have suffered the consequences of these harmful procedures the chance to fight back.”
Sens. Tuberville and Blackburn were joined by Sens. Ted Budd (R-NC), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Ashley Moody (R-FL), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), and Rick Scott (R-FL) in co-sponsoring the legislation. U.S. Congressman Bob Onder (R-MO-03) led the effort in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The U.S. Department of Justicetransmittedthis legislative proposal to Congress in September, and Attorney General Pam Bondi endorsed the legislation.
American Principles Project and Independent Women’s Forum also endorsed the legislation.
