CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee, made stops in Charleston, W.Va. to view initiatives supporting small business and flood response efforts in West Virginia. To begin the day , Senator Capito visited the Charleston Area Alliance where she toured their Small Business Incubator and Lift Center, which she helped secure funding for through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) award. Additionally, Senator Capito received updates on the Ascend WV Charleston Area Program, which is attracting new residents to Kanawha County and communities across the state by providing expanded opportunities to live, work, and thrive in West Virginia. “Charleston Area Alliance is in the middle of an exciting period— one that I have been proud to support through my work in the U.S. Senate,” Senator Capito said. “I appreciated the opportunity to see firsthand how federal resources are helping support the success of their Small Business Incubator, Lift Center, and Ascend WV Program. Through the CDS process, I’ve worked to strengthen our local economy, expand opportunity, and improve quality of life for families and businesses.
