Landsman Announces $11.5M Federal Grant for Clean SORTA Buses

<p><strong><em>Cincinnati, OH</em></strong><em> – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01) announced the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) will receive $11.5 million in federal grant funding through the Low or No Emission Bus Grant Program.</em></p>

<p>The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded SORTA $11,498,030&nbsp;to purchase or lease low- or no-emission buses, build or upgrade facilities and equipment, and invest in workforce training – with specific requirements for zero-emission vehicle projects.</p>

<p>The federal grant is being awarded through DOT’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.transit.dot.gov/lowno">Low or No Emission Grant Program,</a>&nbsp;which provides funding to state and local governmental authorities for the purchase or lease of zero-emission and low-emission transit buses as well as to acquire, construct, or lease the facilities needed to support them.</p>

<p>In July 2025, Congressman Landsman&nbsp;<a href="https://d12t4t5x3vyizu.cloudfront.net/landsman.house.gov/uploads/2025/11/2025.07.08_Landsman-Support-for-SORTA-Low-No-Application.pdf">wrote</a>&nbsp;to DOT Secretary Sean Duffy and Federal Transit Administration Acting Administrator Tariq Bokhari in support of SORTA’s application for the funding.</p>
