Cortez Masto Tours SSR Mining’s Marigold Mine, Touts Work to Support Nevada’s Economy

Valmy, Nev. – Last week, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) visited SSR Mining’s Marigold Mine in Humboldt County, Nevada to learn about the facility’s gold mining processes, including their work to mine and process materials responsibly – and to discuss their community development efforts. Additionally, the Senator visited the site of SSR Mining’s Buffalo Valley project in Lander County, Nevada. The Senator was joined on her tour by Lander County Commissioner Lamont Edgar. “Mining is a critical part of the Western economy and allows states like Nevada to continue to thrive,” said Senator Cortez Masto . “It was great to tour the facilities and learn about how SSR Mining is leading the way in not just gold extraction, but in being responsible stewards of the land, investing in the community, and creating jobs across the region.” “Senator Cortez Masto’s visit to SSR Mining’s Marigold Mine reflects the importance of responsible mining to Nevada’s economic growth. At the facility, Cortez Masto discussed her efforts in Washington to pass the Mining Regulatory Clarity Act , which would provide certainty for mining projects across the west. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto has consistently led efforts in Congress to support Nevada’s mining industry, protecting more than 83,000 local jobs and paving the way for Nevada to power the clean energy economy. She has consistently blocked burdensome taxes on mining and wrote important provisions of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to bolster Nevada’s critical mineral supply chain and fund battery recycling programs in the state. Earlier this year, the Senator introduced the SILVER Act to increase geographic diversity of precious metal depositories. ###
