Moreno Files Bar Complaint Against Cleveland Consent Decree Monitor

WASHINGTON –Today, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH)filed a complaintwith the District of Columbia (D.C.) Bar calling for an investigation into Cleveland’s consent decree monitor, Karl Racine, following a drunken confrontation Racine had with police at a Cleveland casino. In January, police called for back-upat 2:30 in the morning after Racine, formerly D.C.’s Attorney General, drunkenly refused to leave the JACK Cleveland Casino, telling officers he was “here with the Department of Justice.“
“Mr. Racine’s rampant misconduct is a disgrace to the D.C. Bar, the City of Cleveland, and Ohio taxpayers. His egregious actions do more than speak to his fitness as a lawyer. He should immediately be removed from having any authority to monitor the City of Cleveland’s Consent Decree. Mr. Racine has undermined the integrity of our justice system, committed serious violations of the D.C. Professional Rules of Conduct, and wasted millions of taxpayers’ hard-earned money,”wrote Senator Moreno
In February,Sen. Moreno called forAttorney General Pam Bondi to dismiss the Cleveland consent decree.
