Wasserman Schultz Statement on Kirk Resolution
Washington, DC -- Today, U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement on the House Resolution regarding Charlie Kirk: "While I strongly disagreed with Charlie Kirk’s views, and today’s resolution honoring him was not language I would have chosen, I voted for it to make clear that the horrific political violence that took his life has no place in our democracy. Our whole nation needs to heal from the raw, caustic rhetoric that has become too common today. Mr. Kirk’s words and acts harmed vulnerable communities, perpetuated stereotypes, and even put people in harm’s way. I do hope this bipartisan vote makes clear that all sides of our political divide must be able to speak to each other and do it with both passion and respect but never with violence. Our democracy depends on that."
