Smith Statement on EPA SRE Action

August 22, 2025 Press Release Washington, D.C. – Today Representative Adrian Smith (R-NE), co-chair of the Congressional Biofuels Caucus, released the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency announced action on Small Refinery Exemption petitions. "Renewable fuels provide homegrown, reliable, and affordable energy to power American energy security. As we celebrate 20 years of the RFS, small refinery exemptions should be an extraordinary exception rather than a part of the business plan.
