Congresswoman Ross Statement on Trump Administration Weakening PFAS Regulations

PressView on ross.house.gov

Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02), Ranking Member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Energy Subcommittee, released the following statement on the Environment Protection Agency’s (EPA) plans to weaken the first-ever national standard to address per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water: “The people of North Carolina understand the threat posed by PFAS contamination. For years, communities across our state have been forced to deal with the negative consequences of unregulated, dangerous PFAS exposure. “Under the leadership of President Biden, we passed historic funding to combat PFAS contamination in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and for the first time in our nation’s history, the EPA created national drinking water standards to finally address PFAS exposure. Trump’s EPA is putting North Carolinians in danger because the agency’s leadership cares more about shielding polluters from accountability than protecting our communities from harmful chemicals.”
