BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, today released the following statement marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. “Twenty-five years have passed since the September 11 terrorist attacks, but the grief and loss of that day remain with our nation. We remember the 2,977 innocent lives taken on that terrible day, stand with the families who continue to carry their loss and honor the first responders who ran toward danger with extraordinary courage. We also pay tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces who answered the call to defend our country, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice. On this solemn anniversary, we renew our promise to never forget those who were lost and remain vigilant in defending our nation and our freedoms.” This evening, Hoeven will join Team Red, White & Blue and the North Dakota National Guard Foundation for a September 11 observance and the rededication of the Global War on Terrorism Memorial at Fraine Barracks.
