Six Months After Brown University Shooting, Amo Introduces Resolution Honoring Victims, Survivors, and Community Responders

WASHINGTON, DC – TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) introduced a resolution honoring the victims and survivors of the mass shooting at Brown University, marking nearly six months since the tragedy. The resolution remembers the two students who lost their lives, Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, recognizes the nine individuals who were injured, commends first responders, and expresses gratitude to the entire Rhode Island community for its swift and compassionate response during this difficult time. “Rhode Islanders showed up to support one another in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Brown University. From law enforcement and firefighters to health care workers and community organizations, people from all corners of our state and region immediately responded to the crisis with compassion and care,” said Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) . “Six months after the tragedy, this resolution honors the lives lost, the strength of the brave survivors, the courage of first responders, and the collective community effort to support students and help Rhode Island recover.” Background On December 13, 2025, students were gathered in the Barus and Holley Building at Brown University for a final exam review session when a gunman entered the classroom and opened fire. Two students, Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, lost their lives in the tragedy, and nine others were injured. Following the tragedy, Congressman Amo led the push for transparency , demanding answers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) on the status of the investigation. As a member of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Taskforce, Congressman Amo is working to address the growing gun violence epidemic with urgent, commonsense action.
