Talk about making things unaffordable! Trump’s tariff taxes are forecast to cost Minnesotans $2500 per family this year. His actions against Canada alone are resulting in $20 B in retaliatory tariffs. Lisa Demuth has praised Trump’s tariffs and called them “effective.”

At 8 a.m the Tuesday Coffee group at The Bean appeared to be on their second cup, 100+ kids were full of energy at the beautiful new Kids Rock daycare (which thanks to local leaders and the community also included some federal funding), and the new giant nutcracker, Uncle Sam, was ready to roll.

Great to be back at the 8th Avenue Diner in Pipestone. Highly recommend the BLT. 🥪 Joined Pipestone Mayor Delaney and Chamber leaders tonight for dinner. Discussed economic development and infrastructure issues.

4th stop on my rural economy tour: Murray County! Met with innovative local leaders who are expanding long-time child care provider Wonder World in Slayton. When their new 8,000+ square foot facility opens, it will provide care for up to 92 kids!

Stop 3 of my rural economy tour: Cottonwood County! Met with local leaders at Soaring Eagles Childcare Center in Windom, which is expanding to add 55 more child care slots — including needed infant care. We must make child care more accessible for families throughout our state!

Second stop of my rural economy tour: Cottonwood County! In Mountain Lake, Sweet Fields coffee shop, the Care & Share thrift store, and Ten Thousand Villages fair trade goods are all under one roof, making it an easy one-stop shop. Even better, the proceeds go to local initiatives!

I’m kicking off a nine-county Southwest Minnesota rural economy tour — first stop: Watonwan County. Met with Minnesota Corn Growers President Wes Beck and former state and national Corn Growers President Harold Wolle. So appreciate their leadership. Last week before school starts for many MN kids!

His 50% tariffs on Canadian goods will raise prices. And now Canada is retaliating dollar for dollar, which will hurt Minnesota farmers, businesses & workers. I’ve called out these tariffs from the start. Minnesotans deserve someone who will fight for them, not a rubber stamp for Trump.
- AK
Again and again, Trump’s tariffs have created higher costs and chaos. I chair the bipartisan Canadian/American group in the Senate & work with my counterparts in Canada all the time. We have always found a way to work out trade because it hugely benefits both countries. But not with this President.

Lanesboro is a great example of how supporting outdoor recreation can bring people in, strengthen local businesses, and help communities thrive. As Governor, I’ll expand tourism across our state and strengthen the trails, parks, and places that make Minnesota special.

As your Governor, I will work with school districts to reduce the time kids spend on computers and tablets, ban cell phones from classrooms, and use proven, high-quality curriculum to drive real results for our students.

Today I was at Eisenhower Elementary in Hopkins to discuss my plan to get student achievement up and screen time in the classroom down.

I visited Lanesboro to talk about my plan to boost tourism and grow our outdoor economy in a way that strengthens rural communities and brings families together.
- AK
Tourism is a big part of making sure our economy and growth is strong. When someone’s deciding where to take a family vacation or a weekend trip, Minnesota should be at the top of their list.

Why is Trump doing this? Because instead of lowering costs and improving people’s lives, he’s trying to hold onto power by attacking people’s right to vote.

Mail-in voting is safe and secure, and millions of Americans use it, including the President himself. But his administration continues to try to make it harder for Americans to vote by mail — even as two federal courts block their changes. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to wrap up a gorgeous Saturday in Fillmore County. If you’re in Lanesboro, you can’t miss The Scoop. Too many good options! 🍦 Thanks to Lanesboro Chamber Director Joe Goetzke for showing me the latest in Lanesboro!

It was a beautiful day at Featherstone Farm outside Rushford, founded by Jack Hedin — who is running to represent Senate District 26 — and his wife Jenni. Lots of people, good will, AND Jack Hedin lawn signs! Check out the view!

Great to be in Rochester this morning with Commissioner Dave Senjem and a group of local leaders who have been coming together for years to have breakfast and work to keep their community strong and get things done.

I also got to spend time with a talented group of young musicians at summer camp! Minnesota’s parks, trails, and historic sites draw tens of millions of visitors every year. As Governor, I’ll turn that into more small businesses, more jobs, and stronger Main Streets across the state.

Our economy — and the small towns that make Minnesota great — are made stronger by a vibrant tourism industry. Today at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro, I talked about how we build on that with Mayor Pearson and Lanesboro Chamber Director Joe Goetzke.

As Governor, I’ll work with our colleges, employers, and unions to recruit and train medical professionals, expand health care pipelines, and support primary care providers across Minnesota.

I visited Winona Health to talk about expanding Minnesota’s health care workforce. We need more doctors, nurses, clinicians, and medical technicians in every corner of the state so people don't have to drive hours to get health care.

New Trump tariffs just went into effect. Now it’s 50% tariffs on Canadian goods. That means higher costs for small businesses, farmers, and all Minnesota families. Canada is Minnesota’s #1 trading partner. Minnesotans are paying for Trump’s chaos.

As part of my plan to work with the private sector to build 100,000 homes, I’ll expand manufactured housing. www.dl-online.com/news/local/k...

Rural Minnesota needs more housing — housing that’s affordable and can be built quickly to meet the needs of families. In Detroit Lakes, I saw an example of what we can and should be doing more of across the state: manufactured homes.

The first plan I released as a candidate for Governor of Minnesota was taking on fraud – including a top-to-bottom audit of state government, strengthening criminal penalties, and creating a Do-Not-Pay database to automatically block anyone convicted of fraud from state contracts.

In Detroit Lakes, Peter Jacobson — who ran the local hospital for years — knows firsthand how devastating these cuts can be for families and the entire community. If the Trump administration won’t act, as Governor, I will with a health care tax credit for Minnesotans.

8 million people lost their health care across the country over the last year because the Trump administration cut Medicaid and allowed the health care tax credit to expire.

Trump’s health care cuts put hospitals like Winona at risk — and that puts people like Tom at risk, too. As Governor, I’ll fight for rural hospitals because everyone deserves care close to home.

A stranger found Tom Smart unconscious on the side of the road when he had a heart attack. The hospital that saved him? The same one he’d spent 20 years as a nurse: Winona Health.

As Governor, I’ll focus on rooting out fraud with a top-to-bottom audit of state government, strengthening criminal penalties, and surprise in-person inspections.

When the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office was prosecuting the Feeding Our Future fraud cases, I went to the top of the Justice Department to make sure they had the prosecutors they needed to go after these criminals.

If Republicans in Congress won’t extend the federal tax credits, as Governor I’ll do it on the state level. We need action.

After the Trump administration let the health care tax credit expire, Alex Clark’s premium jumped 46% — nearly $8,000 more for the SAME plan for his family. Minnesotans shouldn’t have to choose between building a future and their family’s health care.

The Trump administration let the health care tax credits expire, driving up premium costs for over 90,000 Minnesotans. If they won’t act, I will. As Governor, I’ll create a state tax credit through MNsure to help close that gap. www.inforum.com/news/minneso...

As I travel to all 87 counties every year, I hear the same concern time and time again: health care. Farmers worried about their premiums on the individual market. Small business owners trying to cover their employees. Parents doing the math on whether they can afford a doctor’s visit.

The rural housing shortage needs innovative solutions like this, and I’ll keep working to support these efforts across Minnesota.

My final stop on my five-county rural economy tour: Todd County! I joined local leaders at Hilltop Square Apartments, an exciting project to transform the former Eagle Valley High School into 23 affordable senior apartments — creating much-needed housing.

Another stop on my rural economy tour: Wadena County! Honored to be part of the Farmers Union Processing + Meats grand opening with Sen. Tina Smith, MFU Pres. Gary Wertish & many local leaders. This new 10,000-square-foot meat processing facility will help meet the needs of our livestock producers.
