FINALLY! Glad House GOP dropped its blockade & passed the DHS funding bill that was unanimously approved by the Senate a month ago to pay TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, & more.

Hegseth and Trump call their war with Iran an “astounding victory” 13 American servicemembers have been killed. 400 have been wounded. The Pentagon says it’s spent at least $25 billion. This is not a victory. They need to roll up their sleeves & bring a diplomatic end to this mess.
- PM
Speaker Johnson extended the DHS shutdown for over a MONTH for no reason at all. This is the same bill the Senate passed five weeks ago. An inexcusable failure by House Republicans. But it’s a very good thing the TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, & more will finally be funded.

The parallel crash danger is climate risk crashing insurance markets, which crashes mortgage markets, which crashes property values, which crashes the economy, 2008-style. Climate denial is getting increasingly economically dangerous. Indeed, it’s already begun.
- SW
Instead of managing an orderly adjustment, we now face the prospect of an abrupt one — in common parlance, a “crash.”
- SW
This is the “carbon bubble” risk that we’ve irresponsibly allowed to grow, in order to serve the political interests of the fossil fuel industry and protect its inflated pricing and excessive profits.
- SW
The stranded assets of those producers quickly achieve negative value, workforce shrinks suddenly, revenues collapse, and economic shock cascades into the larger economy.
- SW
That race to a new market-based price, from the artificially propped-up OPEC price, will likely strand expensive producers like the United States and Russia.
- SW
Cartel pricing only works when members stick to it. Once defection begins, it makes sense for other producers to follow. The defector sets their own new price, the market is attracted to that lower price, and other producers have to abandon the inflated cartel price or lose sales.
- SW
This is commonly referred to in economic publications as the “carbon bubble” bursting. Look up “carbon bubble.” It has been well warned of for decades. (While you’re at it, look up “peak oil.” The concepts relate.)
- SW
The rub is that Gulf nations can profitably sell oil well below the price that Big Oil requires to be profitable in America. It becomes in their interest to unload inventory — as much as possible, as much as they can sell at their preferred price — racking up sales while they still can profitably.
- SW
Everyone needs to think through what this could mean. OPEC props up an international oil price that makes U.S. oil production profitable. As the world economy approaches “peak oil,” the logic to defect becomes inexorable: selling what you can while you still can, at some point makes economic sense.

Inflation rose to 3.5% in March—the highest rate in almost three years, and Trump's making things worse with Iran’s war compounding the increase in prices. People are paying more. All because Donald Trump.

It’s about time. Speaker Johnson just passed the bill that Senate Democrats and Republicans passed unanimously 36 DAYS AGO to pay TSA, FEMA, and CISA employees through the fiscal year. Over a month of unnecessary pain for millions of Americans brought to you by the @houserepublicans.bsky.social.

Trump’s illegal war is costing you. Gas prices keep climbing and you’re the one paying for it.

I won't stop fighting to protect our public lands as fundamental to Colorado's economy, history, and way of life.

Today, we introduced the Public Lands Integrity Act to stop federal public lands from being sold off to fund Republican’s spending sprees. This bill ensures that public land sales cannot be fast-tracked through budget legislation, keeping our public lands in public hands.

Nevadans don’t need a study to see that gas prices are out of control – every time we drive is a reminder of how expensive it is to fill up at the pump. Nevada deserves better and we need action to bring gas prices back down.

Our students achieve greater academic success when taught by educators who reflect the communities they serve. I joined @ericsorensen.bsky.social to introduce the Strengthening Educator Workforce Data Act to help recruit and retain educators who share their students’ backgrounds.

This country was built on a foundation of free speech. Being President means having a thick skin. You can’t use the power of the presidency to punish those who you disagree with.

Here’s something I’d like to ask Pete Hegseth. Why is Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner parading around in the Middle East, trying to raise billions for his private equity firm while we are in the middle of a war? We deserve answers.

Is it worth sending our sons and daughters into another war in the Middle East without a plan, without a rationale, without allies, without congressional consultation? The answer is no, and that's why we won’t stop trying to end the President's war with Iran. youtu.be/qJO_7W1uhdk

The cost of this war isn’t just an abstract. It’s showing up in every aspect of normal life from the gas station, to grocery stores, to travel and transportation costs. This Administration chose to recklessly engage in a war, and now hardworking Americans are paying for it.

61 days into Trump's illegal war in Iran & gas prices are at a 4 year high, averaging around $4.30 per gallon. Trump broke his promise to keep us out of war and bring prices down. But we can help do both now by ENDING this war which is making us less safe and worse off.

Meatpacking workers already work in slippery, noisy, crowded conditions, using sharp, heavy equipment with forceful motions. Trump’s rule to lift speed limits is going to make this work more dangerous and debilitating, and also risk contamination of meat. civileats.com/2026/04/30/d...

First, it was Georgia. Then Arizona. Now, the Trump Administration has demanded that Wayne County, Michigan, turn over all ballots from the 2024 election. These are flashing red warning signs of intent to interfere with the 2026 and 2028 elections. Know your rights.

Linda McMahon & Trump are wrecking the Department of Education. Why? So we can throw another half-TRILLION dollars at the Pentagon? Maybe I'm biased as a former preschool teacher, but I think investing in our kids is more important than shoveling money at defense contractors.

My colleagues should speak up. Either they believe in defending our Constitution on these civil liberties and defend our right to vote in free and fair elections, or they are going to continue to cower and create an erosion of those civil liberties. (2/2)

Civil rights and civil liberties are under attack. I am disappointed that the Supreme Court decision has raised the standard on having to prove discrimination in a redistricting case and created an erosion of the Voting Rights Act. (1/2) www.politico.com/news/2026/04...

For too long, Americans’ constitutional rights have been violated. I joined Senator Lee to introduce a bill to require government agents to obtain a warrant before viewing Americans’ private communications collected under 702. Let’s get this done.

The War Powers Act is clear. If Congress has not authorized going to war, the President must withdraw U.S. forces after 60 days. Senators on both sides of the aisle have acknowledged this. Today, we must abide by the law and end this war.

This attack is just one of many that have taken place across the UK over the last several months. While I am grateful for law enforcement's swift action and the Prime Minister's condemnation, more must be done to ensure Jewish communities are safe from violent antisemitism.

I commend the Vermont legislature for passing a law that allows Vermonters to sue federal agents for constitutional violations. Republicans in Congress should take note and join Democrats in passing real accountability for ICE. No one is above the law.

The Trump Administration's war in Iran is driving up gas prices and sending summer travel costs through the roof. I’m focused on lowering costs and putting money back in Americans’ pockets so that taking your family on a road trip doesn’t break the bank.

Republicans keep scheming to maintain their grip on power. Democrats rightfully responded and held the line in the short term. Long term… we need a permanent end to partisan gerrymandering.

Pay attention to this. President Trump quietly purged over 100 immigration judges and is now replacing them with inexperienced and untrained judges. Many have never practiced immigration law at all. He's trying to take over all three branches of government.

This is a step backwards in our journey to make a more just, more equal country, and the fight to defend Americans’ right to vote has never been more urgent. We march on.
- TB
The Voting Rights Act has protected Americans’ – particularly those who have been disenfranchised – right to vote and be properly represented in Congress for decades. The campaign to dismantle it is a deliberate effort to silence some American voices and give more power to politicians.
