BREAKING: A handful of Senate Republicans are finally starting to join Democrats to pull the emergency brake and end Trump’s war with Iran. Now is the moment to keep pushing. Call your members of Congress.

BREAKING: Senate finally advances resolution to end war with Iran. Keep speaking out!

BREAKING: After 80 long days, four Republicans voted with Democrats and helped advance our War Powers Resolution that would rein in Trump's illegal war. Our troops and the American people have paid enough.

As the third Jewish woman ever to be elected to the United States Senate and the only former synagogue president, I’ll always stand with the Jewish community.

Today, Senator Rick Scott and I passed a bipartisan resolution unanimously in the Senate to recognize Jewish American Heritage Month and celebrate Jewish Americans’ many accomplishments and contributions to our nation.

NEWS: The Senate voted today to put a check on President Trump’s power — and give Congress the say in bringing his war in Iran to an end. I’m grateful to all my colleagues, including 4 Republicans, who joined us in reaffirming Congress’s constitutional authority over going to war.

Trump’s Iran war is expensive, chaotic, and illegal. This is where we should’ve been 3 months ago. I call on my colleagues to vote to end this war when it comes to the Floor.

Finally, after weeks of pleading with our Republican colleagues to listen to their constituents and do their constitutional duty, we earned the support we need to rein in this reckless war. It’s overdue, but this is the first step toward stopping this illegal war that’s raising everyone’s costs.

It took two and a half months, tens of billions of dollars, 13 dead American servicemembers, 8 votes, and skyrocketing gas prices before enough Republican Senators stood up and said no to Trump’s disastrous war of choice in Iran. Finally.

Today, Senate Democrats once again forced a vote to demand an end to this unconstitutional war. After seven failed attempts, I am thankful that my Republican colleagues have joined in bringing our War Powers Resolution to the Floor and exercising our constitutional responsibility to declare war.

That’s how we won. And that put Republicans on the spot — to throw in the towel or own more mischief to fund the Trump billionaires ballroom.

The day after we argued, the Parliamentarian ruled that the White House was in the jurisdiction both of EPW (public buildings/grounds) and ENR (national parks).
- SW
ENR Committee Dems argued similarly that ENR has jurisdiction over “national parks” and “historical sites,” but also received no instruction.
- SW
The Republicans’ problem? There was no reconciliation instruction to EPW, so if there was EPW jurisdiction, the ballroom measure was defective.
- SW
EPW Dems argued the case for EPW’s jurisdiction over White House construction and federal public buildings. We argued that the Public Buildings Act requires EPW approval of projects exceeding $3.9 million. Which it does.
- SW
Want to know how we blew up the billion-dollar ballroom? Let me take you into the parliamentary “reconciliation” challenge. 🧵

NEW report shows Trump is spending $1 billion a day on war with Iran while military families pay the price at home. With sky-high grocery prices, military families are relying on local food pantries and emergency grocery support programs to put food on the table. Disgraceful.

Trump gets free pass from Trump IRS and Trump DOJ for any past Trump tax violations. Not making this up.

Michigan communities like Flint, Oscoda, and Grayling know what it means to lose access to safe drinking water. For all those Michiganders who’ve worked on this issue, know that I am with you in this fight. This isn’t over. www.mlive.com/environment/...

PFAS, or forever chemicals, poison our water, our soil, and our bodies and they don't go away. The EPA set limits to keep us safe, and now this Administration wants to throw that out the window.

Why should any American taxpayer tolerate the Department of Justice’s new $2 billion Trump slush fund?

We're at war in Iran. Inflation is rising. It costs $100 to fill your gas tank. Energy, housing and health care costs are skyrocketing, and Trump won't stop yapping about his ballroom.

Trump’s slush fund for his J6 buddies is one of the worst cases of corruption I’ve ever seen. He is literally using your money to pay criminals while you struggle to buy gas and groceries.

No one should be using their position in government for their own self-interest – and Trump is doing it right out in the open. It’s corruption, plain and simple.
- JR
Donald Trump wants to use $1 billion of YOUR tax dollars to pay for his ballroom. He’s traded millions in stocks with companies his own Administration is promoting. Now, his Department of Justice wants to put $1.7 billion of YOUR tax dollars in a slush fund that he gets to give out to his buddies.

Minnesotans deserve a government that can carry its weight and match their drive and ambition. If you give me the opportunity to serve as your governor, I will work every day to build a government that solves problems and delivers results for the people it serves.

We owe our future generations breathable air, drinkable water, and a livable planet on which to live. Giving corporations a blank check to poison our water is just wrong.

Trump made over 3,500 stock trades and then used his position as president to influence the market. He is making millions while working people struggle under his corrupt leadership.

Trump has no problem sending 18 and 19-year-olds to war just like they did to me and my brothers 21 years ago. And instead of coming to Congress to fund support for our veterans, he's demanding money for his insurrectionist friends and his ballroom. @americanprogress.bsky.social

Over the weekend, Senate Democrats successfully challenged Republicans’ attempt to give $1 billion in taxpayer dollars to President Trump’s ballroom. This is a big win, and we’ll continue to fight against such a colossal waste of resources as they scramble to redraft.

Trump is stealing $1.8 billion taxpayer dollars to give away to friends and allies…. On top of the billions he’s squandered on new wars. This money could go to lowering your health care, child care, or energy costs… instead it’s being given to Trump’s friends.

Honored to receive @fp4america.bsky.social's Legislative Achievement Award alongside Sen. Todd Young yesterday for our work to repeal the 1991 and 2002 Iraq AUMFs and formally end the Iraq Wars. So grateful to the many partners who helped us get this done.

Republican priorities: $1 billion for Trump’s ballroom. $1.8 billion in taxpayer dollars for a political slush fund to reward Trump’s allies. And when asked about Americans struggling financially, Donald Trump said he’s “not thinking about” that.

Some facts: The reflecting pool was supposed to cost $2 million and be done last week. Now it'll be done last week and costs seven times as much. "Ahead of schedule" is about as real as his promise to bring down costs on day 1 or his concepts of a plan to improve your health care.
