Day 3 at the State Fair! Nothing like a cloudy day for less heat and time at the booth!

We’re having a great day at the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth to say hi!

More than 35 states have already banned cell phones in classrooms. It’s time Minnesota does the same.
- AK
Teachers like Chelsea are focused on helping every student succeed. As a literacy teacher in St. Cloud, she knows firsthand that keeping cell phones out of the classroom helps students focus on what matters: reading, writing, critical thinking, and learning.

A little rain won’t stop us from enjoying the State Fair. John and I got some great apples 🍎 at the Horticulture Building. Check it out! The Fair has plenty to enjoy, rain, clouds or shine!

Minnesota State Fair pro tip: How do you win a blue ribbon for the best sunflower? Check it out. 🌻

When she was asked earlier this week, my opponent said these tariffs “definitely have a purpose.” That’s not leadership. Minnesotans deserve a Governor who will fight to bring these costs down.
- AK
Trump’s tariffs have already cost Minnesotans $4.8 billion — that’s equivalent to $2,000 per household. While our businesses and families are struggling with higher costs, the President is doubling down on his trade war with Canada – our state’s #1 trading partner.

They call it the Great Minnesota Get-Together for a reason! A few moments from Day 2 at the State Fair. 🎡

Congratulations to every 4-H’er who earned their spot at the State Fair!
- AK
Back again this year for one of my favorite State Fair traditions: the 4-H Beef Show. Minnesota has more than 1,000 4-H clubs and 50,000 kids enrolled — and every one of them is part of a long agricultural tradition that’s led our state for generations.

As Governor, I’ll invest in the equipment, training, and staffing our local and volunteer fire departments need and deserve.
- AK
It’s Fire Prevention Day at the State Fair! After this summer’s wildfires raged across Northern Minnesota, we’re especially grateful for the firefighters who protect our state and keep us safe.
- AK
One of my favorite parts of the Fair is how it brings people together from all across our state — and the country! Ben and I got to spend the day talking to Minnesotans about what's on their minds – and got to see this year’s Princess Kay of the Milky Way and her butter sculpture!

Great to be at the Union Pavilion at the State Fair! Coming from a union family, I’m proud to have the AFL-CIO and Building Trades endorsement and wore the LiUNA orange on Day 1. Labor built our state — and as Governor, I will do all I can to keep our unions strong.

Today we honored the life of Lance Corporal Armando Ortiz Canseco of Richfield. He served our country with honor and dedication. That will never be forgotten. I am holding his family and all who knew and loved him in my thoughts.

That partnership helped turn a vision into a place where kids can learn, grow, and thrive. www.dglobe.com/news/local/s...

Kids Rock! in Luverne is proof of what we can accomplish when we bring people together to get things done. As Mayor Baustian said, “Without your helping us get that federal grant, we couldn’t have done this.”

One year after this horrific tragedy, the way the Annunciation community has come together to honor the memories of Harper and Fletcher reflects their extraordinary strength and spirit.
- AK
I visited Annunciation Church today to pay my respects to Harper, Fletcher, their families and loved ones, and their entire community.

It’s not every day you get to see two music pioneers strolling by. But anything’s possible on Minnesota State Fair Opening Day! Great catching up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I worked with them on passing Save Our Stages.

So Trump is so obsessed with dissing our friends, neighbors, and trading partners in Canada that he just signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario. On behalf of the GREAT Lake Superior, I call that SUPERIORLY stupid. We’ve had enough of Trump’s tariff taxes. 🇨🇦 🇺🇸

John and I have had a wonderful morning at the State Fair – we’ve seen the giant pumpkins, the Sunflower Contest, and enjoyed a great musical performance from 99 year-old Cornbread Harris (Jimmy Jam's dad)! We’ve still got a lot on our State Fair to-do list for the day, and we hope to see you here.

We’re back at my State Fair booth! John and I had a blast at the fair this morning. Stop by and visit our booth at Judson & Underwood. Buttons and t-shirts available at the DFL booth on Dan Patch!

The sun wasn’t up yet, but Minnesotans were. See you all at the Fair!

The Great Minnesota Get-Together is here! The State Fair is one of our best traditions – bringing Minnesotans together to celebrate the people, food, agriculture, and traditions that make our state special. And for years, I’ve been at the gates to kick off Opening Day.

Today we mourn the loss of Harper and Fletcher, we honor their memory, and we lift up their families, loved ones, and the entire Annunciation community.
- AK
During the first mass of the school year, two children, Fletcher Merkel and Harper Moyski, were murdered. Twenty-nine others — including 26 children — were injured. And a sense of peace was shattered by a senseless act of violence.
- AK
One year ago, Minnesotans were shaken to our core by the horrific shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church.

Minnesotans feel the effects of Trump’s across-the-board tariffs every single day. But my opponent calls them “effective.” The last thing Minnesota needs is a rubber stamp of Donald Trump in the governor’s office.

Weston Halsne was in the 5th grade when he survived the shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School. Almost a year later, he and his mom share how much life has changed, and how they remember and honor Harper and Fletcher outdoors – where they loved to be.
- AK
“I wanted to plant the tree to remember Harper and Fletcher.”

With both the anniversary of the Annunciation shooting and the start of the school year approaching, first-grade Annunciation teacher Sara Slack is preparing her classroom to welcome students back — with a little help from Lucy George Rabbit. One way this community continues to heal.

As Governor, I’ll broaden the Rural Finance Authority to offer more no- and low-interest loans for farmers facing extreme weather, strengthen Farmer-Lender Mediation to help producers facing financial stress stay on their land, and work to make Minnesota agriculture even more resilient.

Nearly 90% of Minnesota is experiencing some level of drought — and nearly half our state is under severe drought.

But according to new reporting, Trump intervened in the Live Nation case and met with its CEO at the White House — pushing a weak settlement that leaves fans, artists, and venues paying the price. That's why we must pass my bill to ensure these settlements actually protect consumers.

I asked the Attorney General if antitrust cases were being resolved based on political connections. He told me no.

A vacant school in Eagle Bend is turning into 23 units of affordable senior housing. This is what innovative solutions to our rural housing shortage look like. We need to expand this across the state! www.inhnews.com/single-post/...

I visited Haley Ekstrom’s farm near Odin where she raises cattle with her family and grows corn for feed. Also impressed by the cover crops. Another great example of the pride Minnesota farmers and ranchers take in their work. Food doesn’t magically appear on your table.

Meta agrees to pay over $17 BILLION to states to because their platforms are addicting kids to social media. I’ve been calling them out on this for years. Now we need to pass federal kids’ safety rules so they can stop blaming parents. It’s not the parents. It’s the products.
- AK
We can allow our kids to have the face-to-face interactions they need for social and emotional learning while still giving them the technical skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. As Governor, I will use proven, evidence-based approaches to drive real results for our students.
- AK
In my administration, we will raise student achievement and lower time spent on screens. That means working with school districts to limit time spent on screens — whether it's a computer or a tablet — and removing cell phones from classrooms, except for emergencies.

Last stop on my 9-county southwestern Minnesota tour: the Ekstrom cattle farm in Martin County! Haley and her husband and dad raise cattle and at the same time Haley — having just had a baby — wrote an adorable children’s book called “Ruby the Runaway!”

A strong economy depends on preparing Minnesotans for the future and giving them pathways to a good job.

Stop 8 of my rural economy tour: Jackson! At Minnesota West Community and Technical College I met students landing good-paying jobs in high demand across the state — and I stopped into classes on welding, electrical work, powerline technology, cosmetology, and automotive technology.

Stop 7: Nobles County! Swung by Phileo’s Coffee & Eatery. ☕If you’re in Worthington, stop by for a barista’s pick!

Stop 6: Rock County! I’m at Luverne’s “Kids Rock!” Child Care Center, which opened last year with federal funding I helped secure — and now has 150+ kids enrolled. When parents can’t find care, they can’t go to work, and local economies suffer – we must support solutions like this.

We need leaders who will stand up to Trump’s agenda when it hurts Minnesota, not rubber stamp it.
