Bennet Statement on Senate Spending Bill Vote

Washington, D.C.— Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on his vote on the Republican spending bill:
“Today, I voted “no” on the Republicans’ short-term budget bill. This bill does nothing to address the looming health care cliff facing 280,000 Coloradans. If Congress allows the Affordable Care Act tax credits to expire, rural families could see insurance costs skyrocket by over 400%. At a time when people already struggle to pay rent and put food on the table, Republicans are putting families and small business owners across our state at risk of losing access to health care.
“Democrats have offered a commonsense budget proposal. Our bill keeps the government running, protects vital Affordable Care Act tax credits for Coloradans, and repeals the cruel Medicaid cuts in Trump’s budget bill.
“In the days ahead, I will continue working with bipartisan colleagues to fund our government and protect access to health care. Coloradans cannot afford to wait.”
