Fischer Applauds $100 Million Investment to Repair Gering-Fort Laramie Canal
WASHINGTON –
Today, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) applauded the Department of the Interior’s
announcement
of a $100 million investment to repair the Gering-Fort Laramie Canal. This follows Fischer’s
successful effort
through the Fiscal Year (FY) 26 Appropriations process to secure $14.6 million to assist in the restoration of two irrigation tunnels on the Gering-Fort Laramie Canal.
“This is a historic and much-needed investment to finally repair the irrigation tunnels that western Nebraska ag producers rely on,”
said Fischer.
“I’m pleased the Trump administration is utilizing funding from the
Working Families Tax Cuts
law to positively impact our state. I’ll continue working with the administration to ensure that Nebraska is appropriately allocated the funds necessary to repair this important infrastructure.”
