Tokuda Votes Against Funding Defense Contractors While Cutting Veterans' Healthcare Washington, D.C . — Today, U.S. Representative Jill Tokuda (HI-02) issued the following statement after voting no on the House funding bill: “The bill we passed today is absolutely misleading and deceptive. It is the height of hypocrisy to increase military funding and pad the pockets of defense contractors, while slashing veterans' benefits by $23 billion, and it is ludicrous to cut over $700 million from housing, while the cost of living continues to skyrocket. This CR steals food off the tables of Hawaiʻi families, robs people of healthcare, cuts much needed disaster relief, and puts the needs of billionaires over everyone else's. Republicans are bowing to their fear of Trump and Musk with a funding bill that will hurt millions of Americans, including the people of Hawaiʻi. Passing this CR only empowers DOGE to slash Medicaid and go after Grandma's social security check. What we need right now is to pass a truly clean funding bill, one that puts hardworking Americans first." ### Print Email Share Tweet Previous Article Next Article About Services Media Contact Privacy Policy Facebook Logo Twitter Logo BlueSky Logo Youtube Logo Instagram Logo
