Senator Alsobrooks Votes Yes AGAIN on Iran War Powers Resolution

May 13, 2026 WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Alsobrooks (D-Md.) released the following statement after voting for Senator Merkley’s Iran War Powers Resolution: “After spending a week in our home states, I thought maybe Republicans would come back to Washington and vote on behalf of their constituents. I was sure Republicans would have heard in their states about spiking gas prices, increasing grocery prices, and the health care affordability crisis. And maybe, just maybe, they would finally vote to put an end to this war. But I was wrong. “When the President was asked this week to what extent Americans’ financial situation is motivating him to end the war in Iran, he responded, ‘I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation, I don’t think about anybody…’ Let me be clear: we could tell before – but now he has said it. Republicans do not care about how much this war costs (billions), they only care about appeasing the President.” ###
