Senator Baldwin Releases Statement After Gov. Evers’ Request for Flood Damage Aid Was Approved

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) released the following statement after President Donald Trump announced Friday that Wisconsin had been awarded nearly $29.8 million in federal relief funding to address flood damage. Senator Baldwin has pushed the White House and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to deliver federal support, calling on President Trump and making several visits to Southeastern Wisconsin to survey damage.
“It's been more than a month since disaster hit Wisconsin, and families are hurting. I have been fighting for these funds because Wisconsinites need help and they need it now,”said Senator Baldwin.“I'll continue to closely monitor to make sure Wisconsin gets everything we need to be on the road to recovery and the whole-of-government recovery effort does right by all Wisconsinites.”
Senator Baldwin has pushed the Trump Administration to act and get Wisconsin the federal resources communities need to recover. Sheled a bipartisan group of colleaguescalling on the Trump Administration and FEMA to support Wisconsin’s request to assist in conducting a formal federal preliminary damage assessment, an important step to unlocking federal disaster aid. Baldwin also joined the entire Wisconsin delegation in requesting an expedited Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment and requesting the President issue a Major Disaster Declaration to unlock federal assistance for recovery efforts in Wisconsin.
