Rep. Neguse Announces Winners of 2026 Congressional Art Competition

June 8, 2026 Press Release Lafayette, CO — In case you missed it, the Office of Congressman Joe Neguse hosted students and families from across Colorado’s 2nd District for the annual Congressional Art Competition reception and awards ceremony. During the event, held at the City of Longmont Public Library, staff announced the top three winners of this year’s competition: in 1st place, Sunshine in Can by Haiden Michel, Holy Family High School; in 2nd place By Example by Mimi Turrill, Skyline High School; and in 3rd place There is too much of everything by Vladyslava Melnyk, Silver Creek High School. Michel’s piece titled Sunshine in Can will proudly represent the folks of Northwestern Colorado for the next year in the halls of Congress. “The Congressional Art Competition is a time-honored tradition for our office,” said Congressman Neguse. “It’s a unique opportunity for students across Colorado to share their artistic gifts, and my team and I were deeply impressed by the creativity and talent displayed in each and every submission. As noted above, the winning submission for Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., alongside artwork from other contest winners nationwide. The 2nd through 6th place winners from Colorado’s 2nd will be displayed in Rep. Neguse’s Washington, D.C. and district offices. ###
