Klobuchar: Hemp Ban Delay Passes Congress, Heads to President’s Desk

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) announced that the House passed the Senate’s bipartisan bill that includes her provision to delay the federal hemp ban, based on the bipartisan Hemp Planting Predictability Act she introduced with Senator Rand Paul (R-KY). The bill will delay the looming federal hemp ban through December 11, 2026, and bans synthetic hemp derivatives. The bill now heads to the President’s desk. Last month, the Senate rejected an effort to strip the delay of the hemp ban from the bill by a vote of 61-32. Klobuchar worked through the night and got the support of Senators from both parties to delay the ban. “This is good news for Minnesota’s farmers, brewers, small businesses, and customers,” Klobuchar said. “Congress has now passed a bipartisan bill that includes a key provision based on my legislation to delay the federal hemp ban, which I opposed last November. The President should sign this bipartisan bill into law immediately. This delay will give Minnesota hemp’s producers, retailers, and customers certainty, and give Congress more time to get to a long-term fix.” ###
