Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement on Donald Trump’s heinous – and sociopathic – threats against Iran: “Donald Trump’s threats to destroy Iran are completely deranged. They show the world that our country’s so-called leader is nothing more than a sadistic maniac who will stop at nothing to get whatever he wants. Threatening and targeting civilian infrastructure – and civilians – is not leadership – it is a dangerous abuse of power and potential war crime. “The American people deserve steady, moral, and responsible leadership – not reckless escalation that puts our soldiers in harm’s way and makes the homeland vulnerable to retaliation. “The American people also clearly want us out of this war. They have yet to hear anything coherent from the President – or his subservient minions – on what our objectives are or why we are at war. “Congressional Republicans must call Congress back to D.C. so we can end this war.
