On Flag Day, Gallego Backs Bill to Ensure American Flags Are Made in America

WASHINGTON –On Flag Day,Senator Gallego (D-AZ)announced his support for the bipartisanMake American Flags in America Act of 2025.This bill would close loopholes in existing law to ensure that American flags displayed on federal property or purchased by federal agencies are manufactured completely in the United States from American materials.
“Flying the American flag is an act of patriotism, and it should be backed by American jobs and American materials,”said Senator Gallego.“It’s just common sense that our government should only buy flags made in the US. This bill closes the loopholes to ensure we do.”
In 2024, Congress passed and the President signed into law theAll-American Flag Actto prevent agencies from purchasing U.S. flags unless the flags have been manufactured in the United States from materials that have been U.S. grown, produced, or manufactured. However, loopholes in the law and lax enforcement have allowed Chinese companies to sell American flags on e-commerce platforms and falsely label those flags as American-made.
TheMake American Flags in America Act of 2025fixes this by directing the FTC to conduct a study on theAll-American Flag Act’senforcement and closes loopholes that enabled parts of the flag supply chain to be made in other countries.
