McClain's Statement on the House Passage of the SAVE Act Requiring Proof of Citizenship for Voter Registration

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Representative Chip Roy’s (R-Texas) Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which mandates in-person proof of U.S. citizenship when individuals register to vote in federal elections. Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) released the following statement upon the bill’s passage: “The Democrats have continued their newest fearmongering campaign and misled the American people. Rep. Chip Roy’s bill, the SAVE Act, protects the vote of every American—including women.
