From the CNMI to “Wazzu”

April 3, 2026 Newsletters A story out of Pullman, Washington caught our attention this week.  JJ Martin, a tourism leader with roots in the CNMI, is working to highlight Pullman’s “hidden gems,” reminding us that small communities can thrive when they lean into what makes them unique.  Like Pullman, the CNMI offers natural beauty, strong community ties, and experiences you won’t find anywhere else, but we must continue telling our story and investing in smart tourism promotion so the world knows what we have to offer.  We also want to give a special shoutout to our Washington State alumni, our proud Cougs from the CNMI.  Many of our students have studied at WSU over the decades and brought those connections back home, strengthening people-to-people ties that benefit tourism, education, and our economy.  Your Cougar spirit continues to make a difference both in “Cougar Country” and across our islands.  Go Cougs!
