LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) released the following statement on the Department of Education mass firings: "The least-educated thing Donald Trump could do is attack our schools and teachers, and risk the future of America’s children—yet, his decision to slash half the workforce of the Department of Education does just that. As a former educator, I am appalled by this disgusting and dangerous move. As the mom of an elementary schooler, I know that millions of parents across the country are horrified about what this will mean for our kids. The federal government should invest in schools, teachers, and higher learning institutions so we can improve the quality of public education. Our teachers need all the support they can get to get kids’ learning back on track.
