WASHINGTON D.C.– Today,Senator Andy Kimreleased the following statement supporting extended protections for current Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients ahead of a looming deadline for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to renew TPS for recipients from El Salvador.
“There’s no reason for the Department of Homeland Security to delay or deny the obvious: Salvadorans should continue to qualify for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which will keep thousands of families together and protect them from instability and harm,”said Senator Kim.“TPS is a critical program and one under fire from President-elect Trump. The Biden Administration should do everything it can in its final weeks to extend protections for current TPS recipients so they have the certainty they deserve while we work to make wholesale changes to fix our broken immigration system.”
