Storm recovery resources for Ohioans

Dear friends and neighbors, My office has been closely monitoring the recent storms across Ohio and want to be a resource for you and your loved ones. I have seen firsthand the damage in communities as I have traveled throughout our state. My neighborhood was without power for several days and my family spent a day cutting a tree off our roof and helping neighbors clear the street for traffic. On Friday, I visited Reynoldsburg to receive an update on storm damage and recovery efforts. Ohioans should be aware of the resources available to help individuals, families, businesses, and local communities recover. Along with Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) and Rep. Troy Balderson (R-Ohio), I recently sent a letter to federal disaster relief agencies requesting that federal damage assessments begin in Ohio as soon as possible due to the repetitive and ongoing impacts of these storms. These assessments are a critical step toward unlocking additional federal assistance for affected communities. If you have been impacted by recent severe weather, the following resources may be helpful: Emergency and Recovery Resources Ohio Emergency Management Agency (Ohio EMA) : Coordinates disaster response and recovery efforts across the state and provides information on available assistance programs. County Emergency Management Agencies : Local EMA offices can help residents report damage and connect with local recovery resources. Find your county office here . Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) : Information on disaster assistance programs, recovery resources, and updates on federal declarations. U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA): Provides low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofit organizations when federal disaster declarations are approved. ( Clermont EMA ) Ohio Department of Insurance : Resources to help consumers file insurance claims and avoid contractor fraud after storms. Ohio Attorney General Consumer Protection Section : Verify contractors and report scams related to storm recovery. Additionally, be on the lookout for any county-specific resources, including the Tri-County Multi-Agency Resource Center currently assisting residents of Morgan, Muskingum, and Perry counties. Please remember to document all damage with photographs, contact your insurance company promptly, and report storm damage to your local emergency management agency.
