ICYMI: Cortez Masto, Small Business Owners Share Impact of Trump Economy on Costs and Their Ability to Make Ends Meet

In Case You Missed It, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) joined small business owners in Northern and Southern Nevada to discuss the impact of the Trump economy on rising costs, which have limited their ability to make ends meet. President Trump’s blanket tariffs and war in Iran have significantly raised the cost of food, gas, and other goods. Gas prices are now nearly $1.50 higher per gallon than they were this time last year. Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gas is the highest it’s ever been for this time of year. Additionally, after the first year of President Trump’s second term, Nevadans paid an average of over $1,500 more for goods and services than they had the year before. She said the issue goes beyond partisan lines. “This is about solving problems for Nevadans and so many people across this country and coming together to identify areas where we can improve the lives of our businesses and individuals here and lower those costs and make it affordable,” Cortez Masto said. Cortez Masto said she wants local business owners to know federal partners are actively working to introduce legislation addressing their challenges. She said she is also working to reverse policies she says are driving up costs.
