Capito Statement on 25th Anniversary of 9/11

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today released the following statement on the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks: “On September 11, 2001, our nation and the world were forever changed. For those of us who lived through this day, the images and the heartbreak are impossible to forget. Today on the 25th anniversary, we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken from us, and we continue to pray for the families and loved ones who have carried that loss. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger, the brave passengers and crew of Flight 93 who sacrificed their lives to save others, and the many others who stepped up to help our nation. “We also remember what happened in the face of unimaginable tragedy: The terrorists who sought to tear us apart instead united us more than ever. In the days, months, and now years following 9/11, our country continues to prove our resiliency, strength, and courage. I encourage my fellow West Virginians and Americans to come together and remember the heroes who arose in our darkest hour, and pray for all those who faced unfathomable loss in the wake of the attacks. Our country is strongest when we are united, and we must always remember the American spirit that comforts us, inspires us, and brings us together as one. May we never forget, but always remember.” This week while in Clarksburg, W.Va., Senator Capito filmed a video at the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division’s 9/11 Memorial to commemorate the 25th anniversary.
